Summertime in Greifenstein!
Description
Along the Danube, past small villages, lots of greenery, open windows, and this feeling that the city is slowly disappearing into the rearview mirror. And then finally arriving — in the recreation area Greifenstein-Altenberg. With its Danube. Its beach bath. Its very own summer feeling that somehow works immediately.
You don't have to go far to be far away. Sometimes just a 40-minute drive is enough to find your own little refuge — on about 99m² of living space, somewhere between the Danube, garden fence, and surprisingly much summer feeling.
Off the road, you enter a different world. House after house is lined up here, each one meticulously caring for its little kingdom. Everyone knows everyone here, greets over the fence, and usually knows exactly who just started the grill.
Parking spaces are rare, cars barely visible. Here, more emphasis is placed on holiday feeling and extensive relaxation zones. Your car will feel especially comfortable parked right next to the entrance.
From the front, the house appears almost modest. But it's quite surprising when you go inside and suddenly realize how much space, light, and summer life are actually hidden here.
Through the masonry double staircase, you reach the house. And there, awaits exactly that cozy atmosphere that cannot be artificially created. The large kitchen with visible wooden beams almost brings a bit of cabin feeling, but without the need for traditional costumes. Lots of wood, lots of light, big windows, and this atmosphere that immediately makes you believe that evenings here tend to last longer than planned.
The floor looks like wood but is pleasantly easy to maintain — much more relaxed for real life. The kitchen fits perfectly into its niche, in front of it the large dining area for family, friends, and everyone who just wanted to stay for a short while. While outside, somewhere in the garden, hums along, you sit inside surprisingly cozy and suddenly realize how quiet a day can actually be.
It quickly becomes apparent that much has been done here in recent years. The house, built in 1986, was extensively renovated in 2015, making everything feel pleasantly maintained, cozy, and pleasantly uncomplicated today.
An oven connection could additionally provide year-round feelings. Because this house doesn't just work in midsummer but probably just as well on rainy autumn weekends when fog hangs between the trees and something is cooking in the pot inside.
On this level, there is also a small bedroom, a bright utility room, and a surprisingly stylish bathroom with shower, toilet, and even two windows.
Finally, the wooden staircase leads up to the already converted upper floor. And up there, suddenly a room awaits that one wouldn't expect from the outside. Bright, open, friendly, and with this wonderful view out over the small houses towards the greenery and hilly landscape. Almost a bit like an adult treehouse.
Perfect as an additional sleeping area, retreat, guest room, studio, playroom, or simply as the famous "upstairs" that you later won't want to miss anymore.
The garden is a chapter all by itself. About 380m² to understand a little better the mood of this place with every step. Raised beds, shrubs, lots of green, all beautifully overgrown and lively in this charming way that cannot be bought in one summer. Here, it hums, flutters, and chirps. Birds, insects, and probably some mischievous garden spirits feel visibly comfortable — and are obviously very welcome.
The pergola almost acts like a small outdoor extension of the house, almost like a small summer living room. A place for long evenings, warm nights, and conversations that eventually become completely unimportant. You probably sit here more often "just for five minutes" — and later wonder why suddenly it's midnight.
And somewhere below, the attic surprisingly takes a lot of summer. The fully equipped summer kitchen with stove, oven, dishwasher, and fridge not only spares the constant staircase climbing during garden parties but often quickly becomes the secret center of the evening.
Right next to it, the small workshop of the house owner. While on one side, cooking, eating, and chatting are happening, on the other, work can be done. One cuts tomatoes, the other diligently searches for tools, and somewhere, it's probably being decided that they might stay an extra day tomorrow.
And if, at some point, you are drawn to the Danube, it's practically right outside the front door. Swimming, paddling, surfing, or just sitting with your feet in the water pretending you still have a lot planned for today.
And probably, that's the reason why people have been spending their summers here for decades.
The monthly lease is currently about €238, and considering this summer feeling, it seems remarkably down-to-earth.
I am very much looking forward to a viewing with you
