Das alte Haus von Rocky Docky!
Description
The Old House of Rocky Docky
Who doesn’t know it – the song about the “House of Rocky Docky”, which stood somewhere in the forest, abandoned, shrouded in mystery, yet full of stories? This property feels just like that.
Follow the narrow road through the forest, past tall trees, until suddenly a clearing opens up. There, where the inn Goldenes Bründl welcomes its guests, lies right next door – almost invisible, hidden behind powerful plants – the old hunting lodge. Even the most loyal regulars of the inn have never really noticed it. And yet it has stood here for over a hundred years, as if it were a forgotten chapter of history.
A large gate opens the view into another world. In the center of the area, an oak tree proudly extends its crown, around which the old driveway winds, where once majestic carriages arrived. Here, the noble hunting society gathered, disembarked, laughed, toasted, lived. Today, everything lies in a sleeping beauty slumber, overgrown and silent, but the echo of that time can still be felt.
The lodge itself is a massive structure that demands respect at first glance. Below, it rests on a foundation of solid brickwork – sturdy, steadfast, almost impregnable. Above it rise the floors made of powerful, hand-hewn wooden logs, fitted in an intricate log cabin style. This type of construction, which has almost disappeared today, was around 1900 an expression of wealth, a connection to nature, and craftsmanship at its finest. Every beam bears traces of handwork, every joint tells of a time when durability was more important than speed.
The house was first mentioned around the turn of the century – it may even be older. It cannot be precisely dated, but the mixture of brick and wood, of noble presence and rustic charm, reveals much about its origins. Something permanent was meant to be created here, a retreat for the hunting societies, a small castle in the woods that offered both protection and representation. And to this day, it seems as if a piece of the past has been transported into the present.
The ground floor, last used as a residence, covers an estimated 150 m². The centerpiece was the spacious salon, which was once considered the heart of the house and led out to a magnificent terrace. Today, the ground floor shows signs of neglect: Rain seeps through the roof in places, wooden floors and doors bear the marks of years, the walls are partially peeling, and the terrace is overgrown.
Yet despite everything, the original charm is still palpable. The high rooms, the generous proportions, the arrangement of the windows – one can still sense how splendid life was once lived here. It is a house that demands patience, love, and energy, but for anyone who commits to it, it offers the chance to revive a piece of history.
The upper floors, estimated to cover another 200 m² – are an adventure in themselves. Through the powerful, open staircase, one reaches the upper floor and continues up to the attic. However, for nearly 25 years, no human being has set foot here. Instead, nature has long taken over: Birds, bats, and small woodland creatures – they have all discovered the house and filled it with new life. It feels somewhat like from another world, raw, wild, almost eerie.
Yes, it is a place that demands work. A lot of work. But it also requires enthusiasm, patience, love – and yes, the necessary capital. However, in the end, one holds something truly unique: a piece of history, a hidden hunting lodge, a house like from a legend. One that no one else in your circle of acquaintances will own.
The old House of Rocky Docky – forgotten in the woods, yet ready to be rediscovered.
This hunting lodge is a so-called super-aedificate, meaning you only purchase the house; the land will be leased to you. The monthly rent amounts to approximately €500,--
