Below the house hides a built-up pillar floor – practical for everything the garden requires. Speaking of the garden: it is generous and sunny, with a small gate leading directly towards Silver Lake. Only – the path there is currently guarded by a blackberry hedge that has laid itself like a wild wall at the shore. Of course, one can conquer it – or one can take it with a wink as part of this untamed idyll.
While the house is not flawless, it has all the more charm – and that’s what it’s all about here.
And because this house is not just a summer child, it’s worth thinking about winter as well. Then it becomes almost even more atmospheric: when the Danube lets fog rise outside and Silver Lake lies enchanted, you sit inside with a cup of tea or a glass of red wine and feel as if the world has pressed pause for a moment. The wooden paneling crackles softly, the slanted ceilings make it even cozier – and suddenly you understand why many people have felt at home here all year round for many years.
